Chip & Seal

Washington Co. will admit it is band aid. What I do not understand is how quickly Washington Co. will band aid a road. I was in absolute shock last July, when they tarred and feathered Kerkman Rd. Just 2 years before Kerkman was newly repaved (at that time I couldn't understand why it repaved, I wondered what VIP lived in the neighborhood), and the only wear it was showing last summer was dried up strawberries from the recent harvest. The road was in perfect shape! I literally could have shown those crews, five roads within 3 miles were in desperate need of a band aid. In fact when I first saw the crew, I thought they misread their orders! They should have chipped and sealed Gordon Rd. which was the next paved road over, that thing was literally falling apart at the seems! I just can't understand their rhyme or reason! Well maybe the neighborhood VIP moved, was fired or wasn't re-elected...

While out on Thur, it looks like both Hillside and Kemper have been
hit already. large, lumpy rocks, not the smaller tolerable rocks either.

If only it were actual paving... chip seal is simply a band-aid
primarily necessary because of the widespread use of studded tires.

Today Washington County posted signage for road work on West Union, they are chip & sealing between Helvetia to Jackson School Rd next week. Washington County is also Chip and Sealing Old Cornelius Pass Rd. from Phillips to Cornelius Pass Rd. Also add Kemper and Hillside Rd. between Banks and Forest Grove. I guess they paving season is officially underway in Oregon! http://www.wc-roads.com/
