2014-08-01

This is the fifth year for this race at this location and we are excited to
host the OBRA CriteriumChampionships. While the Franz Bakery is very
supportive of this event, please keep in mind that this area is a major
production facility for them and they are adjusting their schedule and
truck routes to accommodate this special event. Please be courteous to all
bakery employees and cooperate when asked. We look forward to hosting this
event for several years in the future.

*Sponsors*

Thank you to our sponsors: Franz Bakery, Portland Rock Gym, Burnside
Brewing, Camille Hook Massage, Merrell, RoadId and Omnium Events. Without
the support of these sponsors and the cooperation of all the neighbors
along the course, this race would not be possible. Thank you!

*Weather*

conscious of the heat and hydrate accordingly.

*Prizes*

We have over $5,000 in prizes (cash/merchandise) available. There will be
medals for the top 3 in each category. Cash prizes for the senior men and
women will go to the top five. The final prize list will be based
on pre-registration. Prizes can be picked up at the announcers stand.

*Course Report*

The course is 1.13km long, features 8-corners and 40’ of vertical
climbing. Corners 3, 4 and 5 form a quick “S” type turn that sweeps
downhill. The roads are wide and the pavement is fair. After corner 5,
the descent is shallow before corner 6 where the course changes to a
shallow climb. There is a new turn 7 and 8. We turn at NE 8th instead of
NE 9th. At corner 7, the road goes upward in a modest hill toward corner 8
and the finish straight. The finish line will be a two block dash from
corner 8.

There are few rough spots on the road and some areas that will be marked.

The only questionable road is NE 11th between Flanders and Glisan. The
pavement is cracked in several locations, but certainly rideable. In
corner one, the race course will narrow to accommodate working vehicles
parked by Franz Bakery and one by another local business. Other than that,
the course is wide streets and good pavement. There will be a travel lane
coned along Flanders from 11th Ave to 10th Ave to accommodate a wedding
reception taking place inside the course.

*Wedding Reception*

There will be a wedding reception taking place on NE 9th Ave between
Flanders and Glisan. We ask that participants and spectators do not set up
tents in the intersection so that wedding VIPs, vendors and others can
access the space.

*Post Race Food*

Burnside Brewery is located 1 block off the bike course near Corner 6. They
are big supporters of the event and we recommend you try their food and
drink! Otherwise, there will be food and drink available at the Franz
Bakery Outlet Store located on NE 11th just south of Corner 1 until 5pm.

Visit omniumevents.com for a schedule of races and more details.

See you Saturday,
