Early pulls and wave break durations

Steve Lacey

Hi David:
I am new to a class that goes out in a third wave and have a complaint that I would like you to address. Being in the 60+ category behind the 50+ and B Masters and having 1.5 minute wave separation (3 minutes behind the B Masters) the entire 60+ category was pulled a lap early without, at least the top 4 being lapped.

I understand the intent is safety and not having classes bunching up, but I would rather a shorter wave break and work my way through the slower racers in the other categories and given the full time on the course than being pulled a lap early without warning. Pulling early without notice can really screw up race pace and last lap strategies. I don't know if I could have moved up a place but I was on my way to do so on that last lap that disappeared.

45-48 minutes on the course for the top riders is what is expected , not 38. I for one do not feel it is fair to pull the top 5 in a class because or the circumstances of starting last in a heat with a fast category going out first. Top competitors pay for a 45 minute race and got a 37-38 minute race. Not a great value.

Thanks for taking the time to read the ranting. Any ideas to correct this problem for future races will be much appreciated by me and I believe and quite a few more who share my sentiment. You have a worked hard to produce great series, keep it up.

Steve
