Cross Season... Blind Date Stampede

That was actually a lot of fun on a fixed gear. I can't speak for Einar, but I think what you really need to do is get everybody else on fixies. Maybe give fixies a lot more of a head start to encourage the choice.

I'm a slow 44 year old non-Norwegian-Nordic-ski-champ on a fixie and the only people I beat were Brian Hart Sr. on a penny farthing and Joseph Boquiren on a unicycle. Obviously, I needed a bigger head start. But at least now I can say I've beaten one of the Harts. :-)

It will be good to see Ron in a Blind Date leader’s jersey next week! An anonymous donor pledged Ron’s Stampede Dash for Cash winnings from last night into an increased payout for next week!

As for Einer, he a 71 year old Norwegian Nordic ski champ, who raced Stampede on a fixie last night, to finish in 9th place in a field of 16. We’ll get him on a geared bike in next week’s Stampede, increase his handicap by a bit, and see if he can hold off against Oregon’s finest!

Next week my goal will be to thwart any rider’s attempt to pass Einar (my hero). I will use all tools at my discretion including my body.

Though, that may be the last time they give you that much of a gap for the Stampede race! :)

has arrived!

Taking nothing away from any earlier races. Last night at Blind Date I felt like I had pulled my toe out of the waters, then plunged into the “River of Cross”. Thanks to the providers of the earlier races I have done (especially Fazio) for getting me adjusted! A huge shout out to Tony / Joe and Crew for a FANTASTIC course and making it such a fun night. I love those little dark hideaways on Date Night.

Now. Bring on the rain (at least some).
