Undeserved call up we all noticed

Well, I'm with you on the donut.  Anytime someone hands me a donut it's a good thing.  If donuts are outlawed, only outlaws will have donuts.

Let me set this straight. I am in no way asking for a call up or saying I deserve one. I am merely pointing out the fact that there are fast people out there that earned their spots according to the way that was vaguely posted. It's nice to know this circus is like a 5 year olds game that can be made up as the game is played to satisfy the cool guys. I get it, SS in no way is supposed to be serious. But believe it or not there are some guys that actually race and take itseriously because we are borderline supposed to because of the fun police. I find it funny I'm being told to lighten up.... It's a dang donut not a dime bag. Thanks obraland, Great game guys.

I don't know who got called up, since I didn't do the SS race yesterday.
But...integrity? Seriously? Come on, dude.

And since when did the SS race get so up tight? I did it Saturday and then
took it down a notch in the A race Sunday.

Plus. Anybody in front of you is just one more racer to pick off. Have you ever felt like you won a race when you finished mid-pack. I sure have. In the fields that are huge like SS, racers are like separate components of Soylent Green...trying to stay in the mix somewhere where they will not be eaten! Just enjoy the struggle.
I also have to say there is a darker side than single-speed......................60+ baby. You just wait till you get there if you think SS is a deep pain-filled black hole.
All your baby aches and pains you have now get hooked up to the big AMPS (as you mature) for the show each time.
If you got “it” you might be riding as fast as the first 2-3 of the mature group. Or like the rest of us just chasing their shadows (just speaking for myself of course....fellow oldsters).
You promoters call up whoever you want. Just keep providing us with places to race our bikes. And as far as the Crusade goes...........Beer to the last # group is as good as a call-up for those who like it.
Just keep riding and have fun!

While I am not supporting or condoning what happened, you all should know that callups for any race are 100% up to the promoters of the race to promote and recognize the people in the race.

If there is a fast out of town racer or someone who did very well in a previous race, the promoter may choose to call up that racer, like Erik Tonkin's callup today in the A race. I'm guessing nobody in that race was surprised or offended by that.

Call ups are not rules, rather a courtesy provided to some racers and a way to show off the players to the spectators by the promoter, usually based on previous results, but sometimes name and reputation have something to do with it.

Well said Erik, I totally agree!

So today I learned a lot about the integrity of Cross Crusade and OBRA. Someone (you know who you are) got an undeserved call up in SS. We all noticed. It's nice to know you can randomly pick and choose rules as you please. As for the racer, you know better and need to sit in the field and earn your spot just like the rest of us. Name/reputation or not.
