Has anyone gotten the none cartridge bearing pulleys like 105 or campy to
work with Sram?

I have also heard (though not tried it myself) that this size of sealed
replacement bearings work well in X9:

They cost $1.25 each.

I found that I just need to strip down my X9 jockey wheels to the bearings
and clean them thoroughly a few times a season. I'm on my second full
season now with the ones I've got.

Don't forget to pick off the seals (I use the tip of a box cutter) to get
to the actual bearings. I also sometimes need to use a pipe cleaner to get
grit out from between the parts. I then soak them in chain cleaner for a
few hours. When they are back to spinning, I repack with grease and
reassemble.

I just did it today before work.

My new Sram derailleur pulleys didn't really care for the conditions at the fairgrounds.  I've cleaned them out & lubed them, but based on their state when I opened them up it seems to be just a matter of time before they die mid-race.
Anyone have a favorite pulley set they want to recommend?  Will some mid-level ceramic pulleys handle the muddy water & grit better?
