Fw: ADVOCACY ALERT: Members Needed For Critical Meeting Tues Dec 2

If any of you can make this meeting tomorrow, the more natural surface biking advocates there, the more likely we get legal trails RIGHT HERE.

Just being there and commenting on the sheets can make a tremendous positive impact on these trails being built. Nobody is asking you to come out and build trail.........just some of your time to advocate for close places to ride our bikes on unpaved surfaces.
Thanks for considering.

Subject: ADVOCACY ALERT: Members Needed For Critical Meeting Tues Dec 2

Dear Ron,

WE HAVE GOOD NEWS AND BAD NEWS.

First the bad news: The Scappose trail area has major access changes planned in the near future. These changes will reduce an already extremely limited supply of trails for the growing number of mountain bikers in our area.

Now for the good news.

There is a new area just north of Forest Park being developed and METRO Parks wants and needs our input. We have an opportunity to weigh in and ask for more trails that are built for and open to mountain biking. But we must act now.

Tomorrow night is a very important planning meeting concerning the development of this area near Scappoose and Rocky Point. This is the second event METRO has held to consider public opinion.

At the first meeting only two mountain bikers showed up to express their desire for trails. Tomorrow night, we need to see 50 of our members and their friends in attendance.

Please join plan to attend this critical planning meeting. Bring your helmet-even if you drive-for a visual display of our numbers.

Also sign up on the Facebook event page, and share the event with your social networks so we can get as many mountain bikers as possible.

LOCATION: Skyline Grange Hall, 11275 NW Skyline Blvd. Portland, OR 97231
DATE: Tuesday, December 2, 2014

TIME: 5:30-7:30

Let's do this.

P.S. If you haven't already signed our petition, asking the City to develop a city-wide master plan for urban cycling opportunties, please do so now: Sign and Share Our Petition
