Tualatin Mountains - Planting Party this Saturday

Please help with this if you can! ( I cannot because of other commitments,
but would be there otherwise). This is about our relationship with METRO,
which is very important as they are key to being on board with natural
surface riding in the metro area. They control the key lands where trail
can be opened. I will be at the next event. Thanks so much to all who
show!

Subject: [OBRA Chat] Tualatin Mountains - Planting Party this Saturday

Hey Dirt People!

The First Tualatin Mountains Work Party at the North Abbey parcel is
happening this Saturday afternoon. We need cyclists to help participate in
this event to show the good will and able bodies that are willing to donate
their time. If you want to mountain bike there in the future, this is the
first way to help make it happen.

Event Info: https://www.facebook.com/events/501457206658827

Date: Saturday Feb. 28, 2015
Time: 12:30 - 3
Location: Meet at Skyline School and shuttle to site
11536 NW Skyline Blvd, Portland, OR 97231

Tools, gloves, training, coffee and snacks provided by Metro natural areas
staff. Join us!

Northwest Trail Alliance is co-hosting this work party with Metro and the
purpose is to encourage pollinating species and create a buffer zone.

We will be planting 2000 shrubs in a design created by the Self Enhancement
Inc. (SEI) students. This will be the start to a great partnership with
Metro and the SEI.
We can see a future of involving the students with real trail building
efforts, educating them about sustainable trail design and construction, how
to plan and build trails that avoid impacts to our watersheds and natural
areas. Of course during this effort some of our passion and love for
mountain biking might transfer to them.

This will be a great opportunity to get your fingers dirty without any heavy
trail building, invasive black berry removal or other typical hard trail
building labor. Lets show them what we can do.

Spaces are limited, please RSVP:
Bonnie Shoffner, Metro Volunteer Coordinator:
503-797-1653, 971-404-9184 (cell)
