*(Bend, OR)* The Chainbreaker XC Mountain Bike Race is back again for it’s
19th year with a new course for 2015. The long-running race takes place in
the Skyline Forest just outside of Bend. Much of the old racecourse saw
significant damage from last summers Two Bulls Fire and the ensuing salvage
logging. Despite this setback and losing some of the original course the
Mothers Day weekend tradition of the Chainbreaker mountain bike race will
continue Saturday May 9th.

Race organizer and Bend Endurance Academy Cycling program Director Bill
Warburton has been responsible for coming up with a plan to keep the race
alive after losing some of the course. “I've tried to keep as much trail
and feeling from the old course as possible but there are places that are
too far-gone from either the fire or the salvage logging”, stated Warburton
about the changes for 2015. This years Chainbreaker will run a course that
minimizes dust, rides on existing single-track and makes one big loop.

“Another big change is that it's a single lap race for everyone. There's a
short course and a long course with a separate youth track for kids under
10 so we can strengthen the Mother's Day weekend tradition of taking the
entire family into the woods for a bike race.”

The Chainbreaker race is held on private land with the generous support of:
Todd Taylor, Kevin Spencer, Tumalo Irrigation District and Whitefish
Cascade Forest Resource.

The race is number four of the Oregon Off Road Series and is a benefit for
the Bend Endurance Academy. Registration for the Chainbreaker is open and
