USA Cycling’s Talent ID Camp celebrates six years of developing youth
cyclists throughout the Northwest. The camp takes place July 26 - July 31,
2015 and provides a unique opportunity for cyclists ages 14-19 to learn
from coaches, develop skills, train and become better cyclists.
Portland, Ore. – This summer, USA Cycling is hosting a Talent ID camp designed
for riders ages 14-19. This Northwest camp is one of 12 USA Cycling Talent
ID Camps nationwide and is set to take place July 26 - July 31, 2015. The
camp takes place in Washington County at Pacific University in Forest
Grove, Oregon.
The camp will consist of unique opportunities for younger riders to learn
the fundamentals of bike racing. Basic bike and training skills, nutrition
and bike mechanics will be among the instruction topics. There will be
multiple presentations to give participants a well-rounded view of bicycle
racing, such as racing as a junior internationally, strength training,
recovery methods and nutrition. As with any cycling camp, there will be
some amazing riding! Rides will be around the Washington County area, which
has some of the best cycling in the north valley.

Registration for the USA Cycling Regional Talent ID Camps is now available.
Registration for the NW (Oregon) Camp is limited to ONLY 28 riders (new in
2015). To register for a camp, sign in to your USA Cycling account and
click on the "Register for an Event" button. There you will find all the
campslisted for online registration. Registration for each camp closes one
week prior to the start of each camp. If you meet the age qualifications

IMPORTANT NOTES FOR 2015:
Scholarships: Washington State Racing Association (WSBA)
will provide scholarships of $400 to 7-10
riders ages 14-19 yrs old who have residence in Washington State.

Rapha Northwest Juniors Classic Stage Race: Coordinated for 2015 to take
advantage of riders attending the camp and continue up to Washington State
for this fantastic stage race "only for Juniors" - a unique one of a kind
event - not to be missed by any Junior in the NW! Stage race is organized
as a separate event from the Talent ID Camp. Rapha Northwest Juniors
Classic Stage Race Presented by Tyler Farrar takes place on August 1-2, 2015 in

ABOUT:
Riders participating in the camp will be overseen by some of the most
experienced coaches in the United States. The staff includes professional
coaches who specialize in working with younger athletes and in developing
the skills and confidence to become great riders.
Riders from the Northwest who have participated in similar camps have gone
on to represent the United States in World Championship events,
international junior events in Europe and Canada and professional races. A
selection of riders from all nationwide camps will be nominated by the USA
Cycling coaching staff to attend the USA Cycling National Talent ID Camp at
the United States Olympic Training Center. These camps provide a way for
riders to progress through the USA Cycling pathway, develop skills,
training and receive national recognition.
The camp is designed for male and female cyclists ages 14-19 years old.
Participants will have some racing and training experience. The camp will
be based on the beautiful campus of Pacific University in Forest Grove,
Oregon from July 26-July 31, 2015. Camp tuition ranges from $750-$850,
depending on the date of registry. All riders need to be current USA

Camp participants can apply for grants to offset the cost of the camp through
the USA Cycling Development Foundation. All participants are encouraged to
apply for the Edmund R. Burke Fund for Cycling Development. Note that the
award money will not cover the entire costs of the camp, so other
fundraising activities should be explored. Riders should contact their team
manager or president about financial scholarships and may want to reach out
to local racing associations about any scholarships or fundraising
