Cycling Crater Lake Rim Drive

Pete (and OBRA),

There is a great deal of information about cycling the Crater Lake Rim
Drive available at www.craterlaketour.org, including route details, and
related matters surrounding the Mid-Valley Bicycle Club's 38th annual *Crater
Lake Rim Tour*, coming up the weekend of Saturday, August 29th, 2015.

If you ride on your own, water will likely be the limiting factor. It is
only reliably available on the west side at Park Headquarters or at the Rim
Village. If you register and join the 2015 CLRT
, you'll get plenty of water, food and
support all the way around the rim, plus a fine weekend camping experience
at Diamond Lake.

Hello OBRA-Land,

I have a weekend family trip planned to Crater Lake next weekend and I am stoked about opportunity to finally ride the rim road around the park. I'll have a window of time early on either Saturday or Sunday to do the ride. On a busy July/August weekend I expect it to be somewhat busy but I am wondering what to expect traffic wise. I am thinking of a 7am ish type start to beat the yahoos out onto the road. Any advice (direction of travel, poor road conditions, etc) or experience you'd like to share with me offline would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Pete
