Get ready (and register today!) for the Kruger's Crossing CX Classic (Sun 11/22)

Greetings, fellow OBRA racers and crossmaniacs.

The 10th edition of the Kruger's Crossing Cyclocross Classic is upon us!

This year, the "Mother of all Farm Cross Races" - presented by West End Bikes - will take place on Sunday November 22nd and will double as the official "OBRA season closer." In other words, pull yourself and your cross bike together for a "last hurrah." We'll do our best to make it another fun and memorable edition for racers and spectators (and dogs...) alike.

All details are posted on the race web site (http://www.portlandracing.com/cx) and for those of you who didn't receive the email I sent out earlier today, here are some other updates I thought you might be interested in:

1) Pre-register today to enjoy a call-up and a chance to win in our weekly pre-reg raffle!
Save time and money on race day by pre-registering online for your race through Athletepath (https://www.athletepath.com/krugers-crossing-cyclocross/2015-11-22).
All pre-registered riders will get a start line call-up in the order they've registered. In addition, every week until race day, we will raffle off two real nice prize among all pre-registered racers. So, if you register by Sunday 11/15 you will get a first chance to win either a Chris King headset or bottom bracket of choice, or a set of super-stylish fenders, courtesy of Portland Fender Company!

2) Schedule and Race Course.
The race schedule will be very similar to the Cross Crusade schedule, with one exception: to allow our clean-up crew and officials to wrap up things before darkness, we will have the Men B and Singlespeed Men race earlier in the day. Added bonus: they will also get a chance to start partying a little earlier than usual.

Note: To avoid any duplicate numbers in the 9:3am race, Clydesdale riders will have to pick up a new set of bib/shoulder numbers at registration.

The race course will be similar to last year's and will lead you through berry fields, pastures, a barn, along rutted farm roads, a bonfire, a chicken coop, and a giant pig named Mathilda. In good tradition, racers will get to tackle (or bunny-hop) the "West End Six Pack" and the ever-popular hay bale barrier, plus who knows what other crazy farm obstacles our course design crew will come up with.

3) Doggie Dash CX World Championships - presented by Portland Design Works!
The Kruger's Doggie Dash has been a hit with dogs, dog owners and spectators alike since its inception in 2008. This crazy canine stampede (on-leash and sans bikes) also doubles as a fundraiser for The Pixie Project and like previous years, there will be some cool prizes for the top finisher in each category and for the three most original dog attires!

4) Yummy food, free kids races, free HUB beer samples, a ton of great raffle prizes, and a great discount offer at our presenting sponsor West End Bikes!
As usual, Kruger's Farm Market will be on hand to serve hot food and various beverages. Around noon, our friends at Hopworks Urban Brewery will come out to serve free samples of their much-acclaimed Abominable Winter Ale and some other HUB classics.
At 12:20pm, we will stage three FREE kids cross races. Weather and course conditions permitting, the "Expert Kids" will get to race one full lap on the regular course. And all kids will receive some yummy goodies at the finish line!
And talking about goodies... throughout the day, we will raffle off a ton of cool prizes, donated by our generous sponsors, including a boatload of Bob's Red Mill oats and Dave's Killer Bread loaves. Raffle winners in each category will be posted on the results board over at the registration tent.

5) Volunteer and race for free!
We are still in need of a bunch of volunteers to help out on Saturday with set-up and on Sunday with parking, course marshaling, registration and tear-down. If you are interested in helping out in exchange for a free race entry, just reply to this email.

That's about it. Next week, I plan to send out another email with some final updates. In the meantime, mark your calendar; spread the word with friends, team mates and family; and start counting down to a fun-filled fall day at the farm!

Cheers,
~Kris
