If you are familiar with the bike you know it is in the ‘superbike’ class
and has been the choice of pro’s in the TDF. Ridden by the QuickStep Team
during their sponsorship season.

Merckx EMX-5 is a serious road racer that doesn’t compromise comfort. Its
long, 100cm wheelbase and fairly relaxed 72.4-degree head tube angle put
the emphasis on stability and comfort. It also boasts internally routed
derailleur/rear brake cables, tapered head tube and curved seatstays for
fast, comfortable and confident endurance riding.

Merckx’s monocoque carbon is one of the strongest in the industry. Over the
the past few years they have taken their carbon to a whole new level and
upgraded the EMX-5 frame to 50 ton per square millimeter high modulus
carbon fiber. Amazingly, this makes it even stronger and lighter than ever
before. As a testament to the tough Belgian quality, the EMX-5 did not have
a single frame failure all season with Quickstep; this includes training,
racing, and crashing in the most demanding bicycle races in the world.

The EMX-5 was Tom Boonen’s model of choice in the 2011 edition of
Paris-Roubaix. It was also the personal choice of French road champion
Sylvain Chavanel. His aggressive riding style attests to and compliments
the quality and responsiveness of the frame.

The EMX-5 and EMX-525 are Merckx’s top race frames and are among the top
frames in the world. Their lateral stiffness, relative compliance and
overall performance are unmatched.
