CANCELLED: Dirty Circles 2016 - Race #3

David Saltzberg

2016-03-13

After careful consideration and discussions with OBRA officials, we are
officially cancelling the final race of the series tomorrow.

The 3 main reasons for this decision are listed below:

- Rider safety - the national weather service has issued a "Wind
Advisory" for the Willamette Valley, Portland and Vancouver Metro areas,
and the lower Columbia (extending north to Longview/Kelso). Winds 25 to 35
mph with gusts up to 50 mph are expected to develop after 10am and
intensify at 1pm. This event creates an unsafe environment to hold a road
race.
- Absences of volunteer drivers - We need 16 drivers for the race
caravans throughout the day. Currently we are 9 drivers short of our total
need.
- Low registration - Currently we have 42 preregistered for the day.
This projects our total attendance at about 90 for the day.

All three reasons factor into the overall decision, but rider safety trumps
them all.

Final series standing results will be based on the two races held.

All preregistered and series pass holders will receive a refund for the day.

Please pass this information on to all teammates.

Respectfully,
