PRESS RELEASE, May 13, 2016

FAT 55 OAKRIDGE CLASSIC MOUNTAIN BIKE RACE

It is with great regret that I have decided to cancel the FAT 55 that was
scheduled for June 11, 2016. This difficult decision was made only after
first considering any other available options and by consulting with
others. A combination of several factors beyond my control, a major change
in the complexity and required time commitment to my job, were compounded
by a serious accident on my motorcycle a few weeks ago. I lost three weeks
due to initial recovery from the injuries. I am still limited in what I am
able to do. I am lucky the injuries were not more severe and I give thanks
to be alive. But I have been unable to devote the needed time to the race
to create the quality event that everyone deserves.

Approximately 50 riders had pre-registered and I will be refunding their
entry fees in full within the next week. I have closed registration and
updated the website to notify everyone of the cancellation.

I want to give a special thanks to the ones who had stepped up to volunteer
and for those who had been working on the trails in getting them in great
condition. A special thank-you goes out to the USDA Forest Service, Lane
County Roads, GOATS, and OBRA for their assistance in the planning and
permits. Thank you to all of you who were planning on visiting Oakridge for
the race. We hope you will come and ride the trails on any day.

Next years date for the FAT 55 is already penciled in for Saturday, June
10, 2017.

I appreciate your understanding and apologize for the inconvenience and
your disappointment.

Sincerely,

Norm Coyer
