Fox Launch are more durable than Gform, but less breathable. Pedal well

661 Exo is more durable and as breathable than Gform. I would trust the
gform to be more protective

I'll second the G-forms, I got a set for my wife in 2012 after she
recovered from ACL surgery, and hit a rock on her first ride. While she
complains they are sweaty, they never chafe and stay in place pretty
well, and if they do slip you can always pin them to your shorts like
knee warmers. We bought them at Web Cyclery in Bend, but they have
pretty good distribution these days.

I bought the G Form for my son at the Lumberyard. Plus, you can try em out while having a beer. Win-win.

G form has some nice ones called the ProX. Light with nice padding for
XC. Universal has them.

They work well from my experience.

I've been using the G form knee pads for a couple years now-even since I
noticed that my knees were getting pretty chewed up from falling. I've had
similar experiences like Jeff. In addition what I like about the G form
pads is they are not as bulky as other knee pads and the Lycra does not get
as hot sweaty that I can imagine other more heavy pads. I only notice the G
form pads when I first put on and don't notice when I'am riding. Over the
years the elastic has maintained its shape. I did see that the padding is
pulling away from the Lycra.

My two cents,

Chris

The G-form knee pads (and elbow pads) are great. They are flexible enough to pedal easily and the protection is quite good. That said, the sizing can be a bit odd and I recommend that you try them on before buying. For instance, I wear the XL knee pads (a bit tight) and small elbow pads (a little loose).

I also left quite a bit of skin (and a few IQ points) in Central Oregon
this weekend. Please reply all with recommendations.

Hi,

I fell at the Sisters Stampede and took a divot out of my knee requiring surgery to repair. My summer race season is over and I can't hardly walk. I'm off work. It happens. I will be fine. I lucked out I didn't break my Patella or other structural damage.

That said, anyone find a knee pad that feels comfortable for racing? I prefer distance racing and don't want raw knees from racing.

Thanks,

Jay Swavely
