For a 3 mile detour, you can get water at the Jewel elk viewing place.

The bridge is back. Looks like about 18 miles of gravel on Lower Nehalem / Foss.

If you wanted to make it shorter, i would ride the max to hillsboro, or bus to forest grove. then ride north through timber to 26, ride 26 to 103 / lower nehalem rd. and continue on lower nehalem road. (some of which might have been gravel, can't remember, it was fairly hardpacked if it was, cause i did it on a road bike.. )

I have ridden hwy 6 out to tillamook as well, but it is not enjoyable, because of the constant traffic noise.

Have fun !

A number of years ago rode to nehalem bay state park(just north of
rockaway) alongside the nehalem river. I started in st johns, to
scappose (only long climb was out of scappose), to mist (no water nor
food), jewell(no water nor food), crossed 26 and continued on nehalem river
road. I don't know if they repaired the washed out bridge at the
salmonberryriver fork yet, but i simply waded across (keep the socks on to
help with grip).. it was just over a 100 miles... Next time I would
carry a third bottle or maybe even a water filter. There was water at
big eddy park.

If you wanted to make it shorter, i would ride the max to hillsboro, or bus
to forest grove. then ride north through timber to 26, ride 26 to 103 /
lower nehalem rd. and continue on lower nehalem road. (some of which might
have been gravel, can't remember, it was fairly hardpacked if it was, cause
i did it on a road bike.. )

I have ridden hwy 6 out to tillamook as well, but it is not enjoyable,
because of the constant traffic noise.

Have fun !

Anyone know a good road route from Portland to Rockaway Beach? Or have
an opinion about riding on OR-6 W?

Thanks!
