Cooper Spur Short Track Weekend

I would just like to give a shout out to Tom Scully and his family and crew for the amazing event he put on this weekend and Cooper Spur Resort. For the very few OBRA folks that attended, I think you will agree. And to those that didn't, please put it on your calendar for next year. You missed out. I realize there were a ton of events this weekend (MTB Nationals, HC100, STP, etc.) but this was truly a shining star and unfortunately with new events, attendance will often determine if they happen again. The course was truly a mountain bike course and had a view of Mt. Hood from every lap. Granted, I may be a bit biased since I spend most every weekend in the vicinity of this venue, but the work and effort that went into making this a first class event was remarkable. Now it just needs more people on the course. It's a sad state when I can show up at a race and still make $200. (Not that I didn't appreciate it). Just add equal and very generous payouts, live music, burgers just steps away at the Crooked Tree Tavern and super weather to the reasons you should show up next year. Make it a weekend family event. Super family friendly venue, great for new racers and folks that just want to 'try out' mountain bike racing. And the kids race was top notch, with skills course to boot. It's a great little out of the way venue that has great potential! CX race in October is next up. See you there!!!
