The representatives of Oregon race clubs has voted to try an entirely new
system for the 2000 Best All Round Rider Competiton.
Here is a brief explanation of how points will be acquired and counted.
There are six disciplines to count toward the BAR. Riders must complete in
4 out of 6 to qualify for BAR participation. The discilpines are Mountain
Bike, Cyclocross, Road, Criterium, Time Trial and Track. A data base will
be constructed for each of the six above mentioned disciplines and ratings
will be given to each class - Senior Men, Senior Women, Masters Men,
Masters Women, Cat 3, 4, Junior Men, Junior Women, Tandem. The points
acquired will be the same as they have been in the past, with 16 people
getting points = 30,25,22,19,17,15,13,11,9,7,5,4,3,2,1
So each rider will be able to see how they rank in each of these divisions.
A ranking will be given to the final points total with 1st place being 200
points and 200th place being 1 point, etc.
These six rankings will then be added together and the highest accumulation
of points will determine the BAR winners in each class.
Some separate items were also changed.
The Race Season will be from January to December - thus for 2000 there will
be two cyclocross seasons included in the totals.
Tandems will be for the team and not for individual riders.
Age graded championships will each acquire a full set of poitns for each
age division.
There is a task force formed to set up a separate competiton for the Oregon
Cup - of specificialy selected races for the road to recognize excellence.
