Thought about this while at Crosstoberfest, how about a FarmCross Series; Liepold, Kruger's, Luscher, others?

I am all about this and would really like to be apart of a series. Just
want to put on a high quality, fun , family , competitive race for all.
I know Erik Tonkin has been talking about this for awhile. Let's see what
we can do.
Love the support from Sellwood Cycles and Liepold Farms.
See you at Corn Cross soon!

Three seasons ago the GP was 10 races and used to include Peddlers and the now defunct Santa Cross. It would be great to see the GP back as a season long series instead of just a prelude to the crusade. I agree that the GP courses are quite nice and the racing fields are the right size (not too big that you feel like you are just stuck behind people the whole time).

...OR NEW SERIES DEVELOPMENT.
I wonder if some of the independent race promoters might consider creating another series (the independent series!) if a series is in fact what might increase numbers at their races. We have several series already around the state that are well attended by the locals. The Crusade pretty much gets most participants if by chance it conflicts with other races. But if other series existed (instead of an independent race), there might be more parity. The GP (from what I understand) consists of 5 races. 3 are promoted by Zone 5 and the other two are independent races that join with Zone 5 to make the GP series of 5 races. So out there on the calendar are a number of races that could either create another (or two) series to go along with the existing series in OBRA. I say this not knowing how hard this might be to make happen. Just putting on a race is a great deal of work....coordination with other promoters might be too much to deal with..........unless increased participation (and a goal of points for racers) is worth the “plays well with others” effort by promoters. Maybe even a couple of independents join an existing series?
We have... Barlow, Kruger’s, Washougal, Canby, The new Lake O. race on 29th, Corn Cross (x 2), Corvallis and Peddlers that I can think of right now. People do like to feel like they are part of something....and a series is a “something”.
Thanks for starting this Ed. You, Jeff and Chris make good points. Personally I want to race close to home as I age, but many out there love to make a day (or weekend) of adventure by participation in Cyclocross. Connecting some of these races into a series might make some who are on the fence about trying these great courses.........go for it.
I suggest Promoters talk to each other about this possibility. You might just be boosting the sport and your race.

I'm glad to see Canby seemed to enjoy a little bump from last year but I've been really bummed to see Corn Cross I and Washougal with low turnout this year.

I had a blast at both of these regardless. But at the end of the day we can't expect promoters to bankrupt themselves putting these up. I hope word gets out about how awesome our non-series races are in Portland, because many of them are real gems. See you all at Pedalers.

You know how you have a favorite "undiscovered" restaurant or foodcart? One that you hope no one discovers but feels that everyone should? Well this weekend had two races that are secret finds, Crossword CX Challenge in Canby on Saturday and Washoughal CX in Washoughal, WA on Sunday. There's a lot of similarity between the two races. They each feature fun and interesting courses, some of the best of the season. Both races are impeccably organized and while both seem like they're impossibly "out of town", they're actually reasonably close. I think both races are under attended, yet both races will give a great return on your investment of time and effort to get there. I hope to see you at each venue next year.

I'm going to add another "undiscovered" race to the mix-Boneyard Cycling
Race Hard Finish Thirsty race. The race is held in Tumalo with the Sisters
Mountains in the background. Hard to beat that scenery. There is free
camping and downtown Bend is only 7 miles away for your enjoyment. A post
race must is a dip in Mcmenamins Old France School soaking pool. I have not
raced cx in Europe but I've been told the RHFT course is kinda like a Euro
course. The Bend racers race hard and afterwards there Boneyard Brewery
beer to be had by
all. Full disclosure. I race for Boneyard Cycling. See ya all in Bend this
weekend! Any maybe next year at RHFT race.

Yes Ed both of these courses offer great challenges to riders. I add Psycho Cross to these as well. All three are more than worthy of racers giving them a try. If nothing else....you can race local. I worked very hard at Canby and Washougal and have worked as hard or harder at Psycho. I also had a blast on each course.
