I have the same excellent experience with the Schosche wristband. I prefer it to the chest strap.

It links to all my Garmin devices and holds a charge for 7-8 hours. For a more in-dept review, check out www.dcrainmaker.com (he has great reviews on tons of fitness related tech).

Unless you want something that is tracking your activity levels all day and you are *not* trying to do heart rate-based HIIT, then I would stick with a chest strap. I think the Wahoo goes for like $60, pairs with Ant+ or Bluetooth, and the battery lasts for months. With a wrist unit, I don't know of any devices close to that price point that provide their data over Bluetooth or Ant+, so you are sort of locked into proprietary apps to get your data.

Personally I use both; the chest strap is for actual training, but the Fitbit that stays on all day gives me a good view into general fatigue levels, etc. If I had to give up one, I would keep the chest strap, no question about it.

I read a consumer reports test showing wrist heart rate monitors used
during exercise are close to random number generators.
