Off topic: Does anyone have Xfinity Voice for their home phone?

Hi all,
My landline home phone doesn't get used very much and even so it costs me about $45 per month. So I'm looking for what might be cheaper options short of going to cellphone-only. We have broadband from Xfinity which we are pretty pleased with and I see that they offer a Voice service, too, which I take it is VOIP. I have never used such a thing and so wonder what the experience has been of folks who use this. If it costs significantly less than my basic landline now (which I will find out from Xfinity), then I'd look into it.

Particularly, I wonder
Can I use my ordinary phone with this, or do I have to use a headset while at the computer?

Can I try this out without having to cancel my landline with Century Link? Or can you only use one phone company at a time? If you have to end the landline service to try the other one, it probably costs quite a bit to go back to where I was if I don't like the VOIP. Hence this question.

What else should I be aware of, in your opinion?

If you can offer some experience, please write me offline.I am contemplating
