Last night a meeting was held of the community of riders and friends of the Alpenrose velodrome. It was well attend by about 30 people. Mike Murray opened the meeting by announcing his intent to step away from the day to day operations of the Velodrome. Mike contributed years of service to the velodrome that will be sorely missed. While Mike will still be available for guidance his departure leaves a leadership and management vacuum that will be a challenge to fill.It was determined that there are two immediate needs that face the Velodrome Community. First, the impending 2017 season. Second, formalization of the Portland Velodrome Committee (PVC). To that end the community created an Interim committee chartered with hosting the 2017 racing schedule at the Alpenrose Velodrome. Another group was formed to establish a set of by-laws to formalize the PVC. These by-laws will be brought back to the broader community for acceptance and ratification. The new structure will be in place for the 2018 season. (Meeting minutes tab inhttps://1drv.ms/o/s!AkoOBdFpXGd-jNI9JT9lMf5lpOSZIg)I’d like to thank Mike for his many years of service. I also would like to thank all those that stepped forward to volunteer their time and effort. I’m excited for the coming season at the Historic Alpenrose Velodrome.Interim Portland Velodrome CommitteeMike Murray - Emeritus Committee MemberJohn Klupar - Track DirectorMatt Martinez - Track ManagerJen Featheringill - Financial ManagerClint Culpepper - Communications and Sponsorship ManagerMeg Mautner - Events and Scheduling ManagerBy-Laws SubcommitteeAdam AngertDavid GodfreyJon RagsdaleNils TillstromRobert VigeantSteven Beardsley
