I have to agree with this with regards to the statement made by Brian Abers,
which I take as a personal affront. All I could imagine is that a lack of
action on the part of the boar4d has been misinterpreted as a "lack of
transparency" and " questionable focus in direction and organization".
Brian, please tell us what your beef is and, as well, why you haven't
brought it up before. It is not like any of the board members are
unapproachable or that we never see you.

Can you please explain the concerns you have about the current leadership?

Thank you.

No organization is perfect, but the OBRA Board has achieved a great deal with regard to giving people options to race. The people who show elite talent can shine and move on while regular folk have a platform to race their bikes. I see the candidates running as excellent recruits. I know whoever is on the Board is dedicated to OBRA providing the platform for racers from elite to the now and then competitor.
I worry much more about USAC not providing those basic services to the racers at local levels. Their primary focus is developing the elite racer....inclusion of the lower levels is a side show. That said..... their new leadership is making some positive changes and that is very positive. Each organization moving closer is good. Remember. When that spark of desire is set off in the newbie.....our purpose is to support it. As important as that is, providing the arena for someone to discover racing bikes is crucial for the spark to engage.
Go OBRA!

I am curious as well. I think Norrene is an outstanding candidate as a number of others running this year but lack of transparency in OBRA. Really?! I must be living under a rock and don't know something as OBRA is about as transparent as you get. We have some changing times ahead of us and I have found OBRA leadership active in embracing this change for the better of the sport.

Hmmm. I don't think that helped, Chad!

You find OBRA "OBRA is about as transparent as you get" but say "We have some changing times ahead of us and I have found OBRA leadership active in embracing this change for the better of the sport"

All news to me. What are these changing times? And what change is our leadership embracing?

As it stood from the original post, I understood his main concern to be we are losing races at an astonishing rate, and it's not obvious to the rank and file what is being done about that.

I would add from my view we now have two prolific and beloved race directors bailing out of OBRA events entirely.

And now you post about mysterious changes our leadership is embracing. Now there are even MORE questions.

Should be some interesting chat at the event on Saturday!
