Hello Mudslingers

Some info that you will want to read leading into the event to have a fun day Tell Your friends to come Saturday am to register day of (2.5 HRs from PDX and 1.5 from Eugene) 7:30-9:45am in the Blodgett Gym Reg is open until 6am Saturday online.

Friday pickup 3-6pm at Corvallis Cycerly 344 SW 2nd St, Corvallis, OR 97333 or register Mudslinger Shirts and Wool Socks for sale in the gym day of.

7:30-9:40am Late Registration and Packet pickup at the Blodgett Gym add $5.00 Please show your OBRA card and you can buy an annual also for 30.00 for Adults and 10.00 for Juniors for the year or a one day for 5.00

10:10 Rider meeting at Blodgett School, staging on the above link at the bottom of the page. Team Captains that have 4 or more riders at the event, e-mail me with your contact info so we can track your team for the series.

First of all 58 Degrees and Dry. The roads will be wet, the trails will be Moist, the carnage from all the nasty weather is visible everywhere.

First off the schedule of events See http://mudslingerxc.com/event-info/

Safety

Fenders are nice to be able to see. The course is OLD School logging roads and unpredictable trails that lead you to success or in some cases if it gets too steep please yell out that you are walking and getting off your bike to alert the person behind you. No shame in this as I will come pull you off of the trail, but in close to a quarter century this is rare.

Remember all roads are open for vehicles, especially when you are parked and the first 2.3 miles through Supertree Gate and the last 1.8 on the way back to the School. The Course is marked with multi colored ribbons on the side of the turn. In all cases multiple ribbons are placed before the turn and Pink arrows and Yellow NO X don't go that way signs.

In quite a few cases Danger ahead signs are placed and this will mean something to each person and no two dangers are the same. Just use caution and be aware and take care of each other on course. We have radio control and medical at the school and while this is a good thing, it can and will take 30 minutes to 1 hr to get to you or more depending on when and where you crash.

A good front tire and fender are recommended and thanks to all of you who has made the Mudslinger and mountain bike racing relatively safe versus other cycling disciplines.

Do to logging activity I did have to cut in a new trail at mile 13 for the long course and mile 6 just past the aid station that will be re routed after the event to provide a better trail experience. All I can say is its called Waterfall for now and I would carry your bike just so you don't have fall over 6 times and have your bike weigh 40 lbs. Maybe its fine, but new trails just before an event is not ideal but necessary to connect the course and avoid Collarbone Alley.

Other trails and descriptions: Bear with me.....this really makes sense to me and some diehards of the Mudslinger. Map at https://ridewithgps.com/routes/20238409

Egg Salad 1 Mile 3 Just inside Supertree Gate after your 15-30 minute climb up Tum Tum Rd and less than 20 seconds after entering the Supertree Gate a HARD right through a Clearcut around big tree. Please note large trees have value and salvage loggers will be in to yard them out this spring. Egg Salad 2 Just down from Egg Salad 1 hard right for 7 seconds around a treeā€¦Supertree, since 1991 this has been in use and is fast fast!

Course Split at mile 4.7 Novice cat 3 bear left Short Course sign and long course stay right and head up the road called OUCH. More Long course TOP of OUCH rd, right on Mohawk and Climb, next is relentless with some major speed and drop off if you go too fast when its sloppy. Many ditches in this area so get back on your bike.

Trail of ferns, fast at first and gradual climb to Skyline rd and up to Sidehill. Awesome section of trail as you climb up and descend Sidehill, Carls adventure and Root down! Novice course intersects with the end of Root Down Aid station with Gnarly Hydration and some gels at mile 6 for the short course and 12 for the long course.

New trail please be careful! Next up is a fast Downhill stair step to short cut trail to Panama canal.

After that just look for the signs as we head out a new direction to an insane right exit back to Harris Rd to come back to the Blodgett School!

Passing: I have to say this each year, if someone is not in your category let them by. Actually when safe let anyone by and real them in later as this course can be tough to pass, but you have 2.3 miles to sort it out at the start.

Please call out your passes and when possible pass on the left and say thank you! Juniors please learn to talk as you can't text anyone when you are passing or snap chat it! That was suppose to be funny.

We will issue you a Custom Plate with Chip for timing and after finishing please do not come around the finish line or your plate will be chipped again and that will be your time....that would suck!

When in the Blodgett area remember no alcohol at the school or church if parking is allowed and drink that by your car if you choose, just don't bring it on premises.

Kids race at 1:30 and Pasta From my family starting at 11:30 am for all volunteers and participants. Awards Custom Erik Tonkin Pint glasses 3 deep and 500 cash to men and women, 125,75,50 for overall

Also 50.00 to the person that brings back the stuffed Rabbit hiding in the woods!

Awards at 2pm or possibly sooner for the Novice Cat 3 Categories. YES we will be doing Calf Marking with your Cat and age. E for Elite, C For Clydesdale, S for SInglespeed F for Fat Bike 1 For Cat 1 (expert) 2 for Cat 2 (Sport) 3 For Cat 3 (novice)

Thanks again and drive safe. Camping is 5 minutes west at Fir Ridge so check them out and see you soon.
