Condition of Gorge bike trail

A friend and I rode Bridge of the Gods loop on April 1st and only had to
dismount twice (not counting the stairs), once on the exit ramp near the
stairs near Eagle Creek and once on the overpass just west of there. I'm
not saying it was ready to ride, but it was certainly ridable back then.
There was a lot of gravel on the parts where you are right up on the
shoulder of 84. It had a bit of an adventure feel to it, but nothing out
of the ordinary for an Oregon/Washington ride :D

Melissa,

The Breakaway Promotions crew spent 5 days cleaning and clearing the
Historic Highway Trail for Oregon Parks. It was truly un rideable before
we got there. After living the past 30 years in the Gorge I have never
witnessed storm damage like that before. Huge number of trees down, land
slides and so much sand and gravel from all the winter plowing it was
crazy. Anyways we finished up on Friday the section from Warrendale to
Cascade Locks with the exception of one small section just west of the
staircase at Eagle Creek (about 400 meters long) were two trees have fallen
and are precariously hanging over Interstate 84. ODOT will have to come
remove those. I just talked to the Park Ranger and they have some of their
other crews working on the sections east of Cascade Locks and should be
wrapped up in the next week or two. Check out some of our photos we
posted on our Bridge of the Gods Half Marathon facebook page
https://www.facebook.com/bridgeofthegodshalfmarathon/ They will give you
an idea.

Regarding McKenzie Pass I am talking to ODOT this week and will get the
latest and post it.

Sincerely,
Chad

Anyone know condition of Historic Columbia River Hwy bike trail? Apparently
earler this season there were a lot of trees down, and I'm curious to know
if it has been cleared.

Also, any news on McKenzie Pass road? Has anyone been up there on a Fat
Bike?

Thanks -

Melissa
