Montinore Road Race - what you need to know!

Hot Diggity! The Montinore Road Race is this Saturday, the 6th, and we here
at the Olympia Cycling Team are honored to present this true Oregon Classic
once again! Some talking points!

1. Pre-reg is ROBUST! Excellent! Reminder that fields are capped at 45 so
get while the gettin's good. You also save ten smackers by pre-reg.

2. There was some initial confusion on the pre-reg dropdown and how that
lined up against the flyer - all masters categories will race in their
assigned fields and prized as such, but will be scored separately.

3. The winter has been unkind to the roads. We're working with the county
to get the trouble areas patched and we will of course sweep the gravel.
Some pavement is super smooth, some is chip seal.

4. We're cutting out the busy highway portion, and instead using a gravel
cut off. So, you get about 100 yards of Roubaix style fun. There are some
ruts we're addressing this week. The rest of the course is exactly the
same, including the famed Wall of Montinore.

5. The prize list is deep. All fields will win cool stuff. The money payout
is equal to men and women. Free Olympia Beer Swag at sign in while supplies
last, too! Montinore will be offering a discount on their delicious wines
for racers, too, so be sure to stop into their beautiful tasting room
overlooking the Valley and try some of their product.

6. Custom KiraSTRONG jerseys for the women's winners, made by Eliel Cycling
(elielcycling.com)

7, Make a weekend out of it! On Sunday the good people of Sellwood Cycles
are putting on the Wooden Shoe kermesse (a dirt/gravel circuit race)
nearby. Also, the OBRA TTT isn't too far away either. Come on down and stay
in wine country and make a weekend out of it!

8. Parking will be on the winery grounds, NOT in the nearby visitor's lot -
that's for officials and staging. Please go slow on the soft grass to avoid
tearing up our host's wonderful wooded front lawn area.

9. WANNA RACE FOR FREE? We still need a small number of volunteers! Email
Suzy at sinelson86 @ gmail to get signed up to corner marshal, save all
your money and buy wine with it.

And lastly, the weather outlook is changing all the time, but it looks as
of today to be just about perfect. 60, partly cloudy. Let's all do whatever
dance or incantation needed to seek favor from our dear Mother Nature.
