Race Across the West vs Multiple Sclerosis (RAW vs MS)

Hello OBRA!

I'm writing today in the hopes of generating awareness and support of my efforts to raise awareness of the importance of remaining physically active in the face of Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Id like to have you watch the 3-minute video found at bit.ly/RAWvsMS. It outlines the upcoming challenge that is Race Across the West a 925-mile bike race from Oceanside, CA to Durango, CO that riders must finish in less than 4 days. I will be the first person with MS to ever attempt the race as a solo athlete. I've been absent from the OBRA racing scene this spring finishing up nearly 12k miles over the past year in preparation for this event.

I have several goals with this endeavor
1. Test my own limits both of myself and of my MS
2. Demonstrate that having MS does not equal relinquishing your dreams
3. Attempt to inspire anyone and everyone to realize they can raise their personal fitness bar a notch almost regardless of their current condition (meaning couch potato through Olympian)
4. Raise funding for much needed support of the MS research and the MS community, a disease affecting 1 in 1000 in the US, and ~2.5million world-wide.

So far, donations of nearly $10k have gone to the National MS Society. An incredibly generous (and anonymous) donor has graciously offered to match all donations made (up to $5k) from May29th through June 27th. We've made it through half of that so far, but we need more help to take full advantage of this amazing offer.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is the most widespread disabling neurological condition of young adults around the world striking people in the prime of their lives, typically ages 20 to 50. More than 2.5 million people worldwide are affected with 400,000 in the US alone. Help me raise awareness of the importance of physical exercise and keeping that bar up high!

Follow my RAW attempt and if inspired, donate to the cause:

http://bit.ly/RAWvsMS (donate to National MS Society, matching gift available)
http://www.gofundme.com/ramsey-ms-vs-ms (donate to help cover Chris RAW expenses)

I cannot thank you enough for your support, even if it's just sharing this message with others. Lets get the word out there, and make a difference in the fight against MS!

Sincerely,

-chris
