Skibowl Classic XC Updates

My man Tonkin has some updates for Sunday. Tip your course marshalls, well
at least tip me. And wear some sunscreen.

The weather looks great for race-day. Expect temps in the 60s or 70s--and
sun! The course has wet spots, but the snow is almost entirely gone, thanks
to the one and only Petr Kakes and his crew. They did an incredible amount
of work to clear and groom the course. The trails are prime!

*Day-of registration *is still $40. If you want to purchase a post-race
meal ticket, we'll have a limited number for sale for $10. Otherwise, the
standard food at the lodge is also available to buy--and there's Government
Camp, too!

We'll have product from Clif Bar and Stumptown Coffee Roasters to give away
at registration pick-up.

We'll have ribbons for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for each category as well as
podium ceremonies.

I'm trying to pull together a small raffle, too! :)

*Cat 1s/Pros *start at 10am at The Hurricane Bike Shop below the lodge.
This is a new starting spot! See final course description below. Distance
is 25mi or less.

*Cat 2s *also start at 10:05am at The Hurricane. See course description
below. Distance is 19mi or less.

*Junior Expert and Single-Speed *categories will race the Cat 2 course. (If
you have questions about which course you will race, please contact Erik
Tonkin by email at tonkin@sellwoodcycle.com or by cell at 503-348-7211.)
Here's a note to single-speed bike racers: a racer can choose to race his
or her category, too!

Cat 3s now start at 10:15am but still at the parking lot. The course hasn't
changed. See description below. Distance is 9mi or less.

Below are the final course descriptions. (You might glaze over trying to
read them, but they're accurate and make sense in the context of the trial
system at Mt. Hood Skibowl!) Along with these written descriptions, I
included a link to Mt. Hood Skibowl's trail system map. You can also see
the map at the venue.

The Mt. Hood Skibowl Adventure Park will be open to the public during the
race. There shouldn't be any real user conflict, but it's wise to be
watchful for all users. The lift will be open for downhill mountain biking
by 11am.

Next year, we hope to host a 3-race "BIG XC" series. The first race would
be Bear Springs Trap XC in late-April/early-May. The second would be Ski
Bowl Classic in mid-June. The third venue is TBD but will be in late-July
or early-August.

Virus-free.
