I wasn't selected for any of the road races that I signed up for. Also, the weekday road races this year I didn't put down any this season as I am busy most evenings with TKD.

As the road season has come to a close and the few events we have left on the calendar I feel like its a good time to ask. Why do people officiate or not?

Please keep this thread online so everyone can see the reasons people choose to officiate or not. Keep in mind there are no right answers but this might be a healthy way to see what the limiting factors are. No matter how many people are trained each year we see less than 5% who actually work an event let alone more than one.

I would love to officiate, run timing, watch a corner, etc. Right now I
have a 1 year old and a 5 year old, and any chance I have to get near a
bike I'm either racing, commuting, or hauling the kids around. Hopefully
someday when the kids are bigger I can give back in some capacity?
