And for those that ride on the East side of Mt Hood, we have a Surveyors
Ridge work party this weekend. We need to complete the reroute before the
old road section is decommissioned.

Thanks for stepping up Nathan. I hope some who read can help out (and of
course ride!). I want readers to know that even helping out one time makes
a huge difference. Many hands make little work and make the trail nice for
the next rider through. Thanks all.

There are several great opportunities in August for giving back to MTB
trails and finding some great new spots to go ride. All of these will have
some level of food provided, and extra tools available.

Never participated before? If you can pick up sticks and use a rake, you can
help. Not all trail work involves chainsaws and massive dirt-moving
projects. All of these work parties will have crew chiefs that can provide
guidance if you're unsure of the proper way to do things.

This upcoming weekend - Oregon Timber Trail campout down in the Cascades
Lake Region.

Next weekend is SHIFT up on St Helens. There's plenty up there besides Ape
Canyon. Go explore! Some of the stuff on the west side is absolutely
stellar, and you can make 4+ hours loops out of it involving a ton of
climbing, great views, and ripping descents. And you might see a handful of
other folks in those few hours.

Last weekend of the month - Oregon Timber Trail campout in the Old Cascade
Crest region. These are some great burly back-country trails that are
pretty much cleared and just need raking and fine-tuning. But that's spread
over 15+ miles, so it'll still be a ton of work.

With all of these, I would implore you to sign up early if interested and
able to commit. While no work party will turn away hands, it makes the
organization much easier, and the work much more efficient if planning can
occur with respect to where to send folks, specific tools, etc.

Hope to see you out there!

Last weekend of the month - Oregon Timber Trail campout in the Old Cascade Crest region. These are some great burly back-country trails that are pretty much cleared and just need raking and fine-tuning. But that's spread over 15+ miles, so it'll still be a ton of work.
