Retirement

Kenji,
Your leadership has been stellar. You have made OBRA a stronger organization. This organization has moved forward with a steady vision of inclusion and positive growth because of your lead. You are always been more than willing to listen to new ideas from people inside OBRA and out. Our least experienced participant is as important to you as our national champion. You and your calm at the helm will be missed. I believe your input into new leadership will be crucial in choosing the new Exec. Dir. for OBRA.
It was also much fun getting to race in the dirt and mud with you over the years
Thank you and the best to you and your family.

Subject: [OBRA Chat] Retirement

Dear fellow OBRA folks-

I just wanted to make this official. After 10 wonderful years, I am announcing my retirement as Executive Director to be effective in 6-9 months. It has been an amazing run with such an awesome community- the officials, volunteers, staff, board, teams, promoters, sponsors- and most importantly- all of you. I have many fond memories- many of which include a number of you. From watching the insanity of the first SSCXWC in Estacada- to the epic finishes of Baker City to the muddy messes of Mudslinger and my epic fails at the Albany Crit and MHCC Crit to the absolute craziness racing around Alpenrose- it has been an absolute pleasure. We have a wonderful community, and though we may have had our ups and downs, we went through it all together as an OBRA family.

I have had some amazing opportunities arise that I cannot pass up so I have decided that this is an opportune time to pass on the torch. Though we have faced headwinds that have been mirrored on the national level, we have a solid foundation with a great plan to move forward. You will see some fairly substantial changes in the organization within the next year. During this transition time I will be helping the board conduct a search and help on-board the new leader. We will be searching in and outside the cycling community to find someone who is a great fit with the organization and will be able to take our organization to the next level.

I hope we all remember that we are part of a much larger community and that we bring out the best of ourselves in our interactions to those internal and external to our organization. Our spirit of competition is built on a foundation of fairness and respect. I ask that all of you continue this tradition and support our new Executive Director when the time comes.

There are too many people to thank- but suffice it to say- thank you all- especially to Candi and Mike who have been there for me. See you out at the races!

With much affection,

k-

Great news for you, Kenji, but bad news for the OBRA community. You've done
an incredible job leading the way for the last decade and your presence
will be missed! Thanks and best of luck!
