6 Hours of Mt Hood - early reg deadline extended until end-of-day today!

Hello everyone!

A quick heads-up that we decided to extend the early registration deadline for the upcoming Six Hours of Mt Hood with 24 hours, so you still have until end-of-day today to register online (via OBRA at http://obra.org/events/26064/register) and save $10 OFF the day-of-race registration fee!

Our latest count shows 150 racers who have already registered to date (scroll down to view the full list), with solid fields of contenders in all 11 categories, so expect a fun race for all. And if you are among the next 100 racers who register, you will receive a custom 6 Hrs pint glass and a classy 6 Hrs finisher tag.

A couple other updates ahead of next week's race:

1) Race course:

We will use the same course as last year, which is 100% snow-free and in great shape.
The start/exchange/finish area and aid station will be located at the Skibowl main lodge & parking lot, just off Hwy 26, so you will have easy access to your car throughout the day.
Like last year, all solo riders will get to do a slightly extended loop that includes a fun singletrack descent down the twisty gnar-gnar trail.

- Total lap distance is 5.5 miles for two-person teams and 6.8 miles for solo riders.
- Elevation gain per lap is about 860 feet for two-person teams and 1,085 feet for solo riders.
- More details and course maps: https://6hoursofmthood.com/course

2) Race Support:

- The morning of the race (from 7 to 9am), we will serve FREE Bob's Red Mill hot oats and coffee at the Skibowl main lodge.
- Throughout the race we'll have a fully stocked food station, featuring energy drink, fresh fruit, Dave's Killer Bread PB&J sandwiches, and other tasty goodies. Like in years past, we will have a dedicated on-course aid tent for solo racers, allowing for swift hydration and refueling throughout the race.
- After the race, all racers will enjoy a free bowl of chili and $1 beers (for anyone of drinking age), courtesy of our beer sponsor Hopworks Urban Brewery.

3) Pre-Riding, Lodging and Camping:

- The course will be open for pre-riding on Saturday June 30 from 10am until 6pm.
- If you travel from further away, or like to make it a whole weekend on the mountain, the popular Collins Lake Resort (less than a mile from the start and the official lodging partner of Skibowl), has 150 chalets and 48 lodge condominiums at their Grand Lodge.
- There is also the option to car-camp on the Skibowl parking lot the night before the race. Or you can camp at one of the various Forest Service campgrounds in the area (Still Creek and Trillium Lake are the closest ones).

4) Prizes & Raffle:
Like in years past, we'll have some very classy custom medals for the top-3 podium finishers in each category and in good tradition we'll wrap up the day with a raffle, featuring more than $1,500 in prizes, courtesy of our generous sponsors!

That's it for now... for all info and updates, check our web site at https://6hoursofmthood.com and if you have any questions, just shoot me an email!

Cheers,
~Kris
