Hey folks!
We are in the home stretch of the 2018 Portland Short Track Series (only 3 more races left!) and after another fun "Summer Casual Night" last Monday, we're going keep it dialed up, change up the race course in novel ways, and make the last 3 race nights all ones that you don't want to miss out on!
Here are a couple updates ahead of tonight's races:

1) Join us tonight for our inaugural "Getting the Band Back Together" Night!
After 14 seasons of Short Track, it's time for a "roll call" of all folks who raced the series over the years and haven't been out there for a while. We'll bring back the "good ol' times", which, come to think of it, actually never really went away... Short Track is still the same old recipe: kids of all ages having a blast racing bikes in circles for on a fun and ever-changing course; then, catch your breath, chill, laugh, and get ready to do it all over again the next week!
Here is the deal:
- Alumni Short Track racers who haven't raced short track in the last 3 seasons (2016 through 2018) will enjoy a $10 discount when they register online! (or $5 off at the race)
- Also, at 6:00pm (right before the start of the Cat 1 Kids race), we'll host a FREE and all-for-fun "Originals Hot Lap", for any "old timers" who raced Short Track during the first 6 seasons (2005-2010). Participating racers will get released in order of seniority (starting with the "Class of 2005") and are encouraged to sport their vintage race plates and any old-timey bike race outfits that would be fitting for the occasion (assuming they still pass the smell test...).
- To top it off we'll raffle off 5 4-packs of HUB Beer, 5 packs of Nossa Familia Coffee, and 5 Short Track tees among all "relapsing" STXC racers who come out of hibernation and race this Monday. Just our way of saying "welcome back"!

2) Our 2018 "Casual Summer" Race Outfit Contest winners are in!
Last Monday's Summer Casual Race Outfit Contest presented by Portland Design Works drew another great crowd of racers who shed the lycra or sported some truly casual race outfits. We saw some great outfits that ran the gamut from stylish & cute to wild & risque.

4) Get Ready for the 2018 Series Grand Finale & Ultra Short Track Team Relay!
We're just over two weeks away from our traditional Series Grand Finale and Ultra Short Track Team Relay, which will take place on Monday July 30!
We have 26 available slots available for the team relay race. To reserve your spot, just have your team captain shoot me an email. All relay team slots will be awarded on a first-come first-serve basis!

That's it... temperatures will be a bit up from last week, but we'll have you covered with plenty of ice-cooled water at our food station, plus the PIR concession stand will serve delicious HUB beer and other cold beverages.
