2004 Columbia Plateau Stage Race - Important Update

To all,

We have made some changes to this years event:

1) We are going to split the Cat 3,4 field into a Cat 3 field and a Cat 4

field, provided that we get a minimum of 35 riders per field. If we do, the

Cat 3 field will do the long Stage 1 loop (same as the Pro,1,2 field). Cat

4 field will do the short Stage 1 loop. All other stages are the same as

before. The Cat 3 prize list will be the same as the previous Cat 3,4 prize

list. We will add a $500 prize list for the Cat 4 field (20 deep in GC).

If we do not get enough riders to split the Cat 3,4s the combined group will

ride the short Stage 1 loop.

2) If we get a minimum of 25 riders per field we will add a masters 50+

field (minimum of 25 riders in both Masters 40+ and Masters 50+). If we

split the masters field we will add $250 for the Masters 50+ field (10 deep

in GC); Masters 40+ prize list will remain the same.

3) We will be making the determination as to whether to go ahead with the

above two plans based on the number of riders that have signed up two weeks

in advance of the event. The cutoff date will be mailed entries received or

riders registered on-line as of the end of the day on Thursday, April 22.

4) We will be providing rosters of riders entered on the website, so others

can track this progress. The first should be coming shortly, with periodic

updates.

5) We are making a slight change to the points competition in the Pro,1,2

and the Women's fields. Points for stage finishes will only go six deep:

7,5,4,3,2,1; mid-race points will remain the same: 6,4,2.

These changes are not on the website, yet, but should be coming soon. If

anyone has any questions, let us know.
