Riding Down at PIR

This has been finished off-line. Yes, I admit to making assumptions

about whether the rider was in our group or not. The facts are simple,

the officials were clear that he was on the start line, and that's the

final call.

Has this been addressed? Riders who ride in 3/4s one week then ride

down in 4/5 the next. I'm not talking about those of us who try the

3/4s occasionally to check whether we can hang...I'm talking about

competitive in 3/4s and then ride down the next week and blow away the

group?

A rider who is a Cat 4 is allowed to ride either 3/4 or 4/5 field at his

choice, regardless of how competitive they are in either field. A Cat 3

rider is NOT allowed to ride the 4/5 field but may ride either the 3/4 or

1/2/3 field. If a rider enters a field that they are not qualified, either

up or down category they may be penalized. Penalty may be up to and

including suspension of membership and ability to race.

Maybe a bigger issue is people not upgrading when they are qualified, or

sandbagging.

Hmmm, I'm thinking the kamikazee question is the best question here. If a

guy is a cat 4, he can ride in either group.

Just think of the thrill of being the PIR cat 4 "champion" if you're a

cat 3.

I think PIR is a great place to train and learn how to race, winning

isn't the pinnacle of a successful Tuesday night.
