Thank you, racers, for another great year at Bear Springs Trap! All racers were accounted for and no one's emergency contact had to be called.

Big thanks to those who checked in at the finish when DNFing. Melanie was very pleased.

Thanks for the question Julie. I checked in on this for you. The race
director/course designer and sponsor for Bear Springs Trap XC will be
scouting the permit area again next week to determine how snow will impact
the race this year. They have been waiting until closer to the event date
before posting more details. They will have more information out by the end
of next week. There is no short-track race this year, which is why it is
not on the OBRA calendar. The categories for the XC race on Sunday will be
the same as the other races in the Oregon Off-Road Series. The course will
be open to pre-riding on the Saturday before the race.

All--I'm confused about Bear Springs. Will there be a short track race on Saturday? The Oregon Off Road Series website mentions there will be a short track race on Saturday, but there is nothing on the OBRA calendar. Also, I can't find where it describes categories and distances. I haven't tried registering yet, so maybe it comes up during registration, I don't know.....
Anyone have more info? Thanks!!

Hello

Race #3 of the Oregon XC Series is this Weekend and Petr called me
yesterday and told me that Rimrock is open for the long course which means
the snow is Not an issue as this area is the one usually not passable 50%
of the time. This means 32 miles for the Pro Cat 1 and SS course with the
Cat 2's doing around 20 and a nice hr loop for the Beginners. Guess I will
be wearing my hydration pak

I hope to see you this weekend at Bear Springs Trap for the ST on Saturday
or the XC race on Sunday

Mike

Hey Everyone!

There has been some confusion about Bear Springs Trap registration. You can register for each day individually. If you have kids, maybe someone can ride Saturday and the other Sunday!

Anyway, you can register by clicking the register link next to each day on the OBRA calendar....or you can use these links.

Saturday: http://obra.org/events/20322/register
Sunday: http://obra.org/events/20323/register

This was my third year at Bear Springs and, as always, I had a great time on the course! Many thanks to all who worked so hard to make it happen this year!

Ya, I just looked at the really cool OBRA poster and the ST is Saturday and XC Sunday. Cliff

Last year they did a short track on Sat and the XC on Sunday. In 05 Picketts did a Sat "time trial" and "short track" and a Sunday XC. There were some problems with stolen markers on the Sat time trial, but that was a good weekend event and reason for the trip and even family outing... even the biker member doing the racing and others off doing other Bend area things. I think the idea of MTB time trials is a good one.
