Re: 2007 races/sponsors

I have promoted events for 10 years and one thing I
have learned about sponsors is at most places the
person that handles sponsorship is likely an intern.
Each year about half the companies I deal with have a
new "sponsorship person".

Every year I get burned by 1-5 sponsors, but unlike
Richard it is mostly product only deals, so I just
have less raffle or prize stuff.

I have been burned for $$ by sponsors in the past and
it is really hard on a promoter to deal with this even
if you have a contract, we as promoters do the best we
can and sometimes we get burned and in turn we are not
able to provide what we hoped...it is not an excuse,
it is just a fact in the world of promoting and
sponsorship. Companies get bought and sold all the
time, new managers and marking people come and go like
TP... When I got burned for $$ it was because the new
manager said "there market focus had changed"...what
ever that means...maybe the same thing happened to
Richard.

Take Care all and please keep supporting races all
over Oregon.
