Don't forget to sign up online for the race, you only have a few days left. Online registration closes this Thursday at 10am. Help out our wonderful OBRA officials and register online so they don't have to enter so many manual entries on the day of the race. Here is the web address for signing up and at $36.50 it's still the cheapest race in the off-road series. Day of registration s $40.

https://www.athletepath.com/rotj/2015-06-06

I will be picking up the beautiful custom glass awards for the fastest male and female on the long course today. Thank you to the Glass Forge in Grants Pass. The trails are ready to go and the course should be completely marked by mid day Friday. We have been getting afternoon thunder showers every other day here which means virtually no dust on the course and nice tacky trails.

Race start time is noon on Saturday so that all of our out of town friends have time to get here.

See you Saturday,
Shawn

Attention all mountain bike racers, you've completed the Sisters Stampede and now have 11 days to recover before your next race. Gear up and head down to beautiful southern Oregon. The final cleanup of the trails was completed yesterday and they are running fast and smooth. If you are looking to make up some series points this is the place to do it as this race typically has a smaller field. However, it would be great to change that and get a bunch of racers out. All proceeds this year will be donated to the Grants Pass High School music program for the purchase of new instruments. So come get your points and help a great cause. Online registration closes on June 4th and is less expensive than signing up on race day.

Thanks,
Shawn Logue

An invite to fat tire riders who are looking to get an entire weekend of
racing and riding in at the beginning of June. Return on the Jedi MTB
Festival is happening once again on June 4th & 5th.

Saturday will contain a Short Track Race along with a 9 mile Super-D
starting at the top of Onion Mt and descending all the way back to the race
venue.

Sunday will be the MTB Cross-Country Race. The course will be the same as
last year to maximize speed and sweet single track. The beginner friendly
CAT III course, longer CAT II course and the epic PRO-CAT I course provide
some of the best racing in Oregon. Each category returns to the finish line
on the smile inducing Jedi Trail.

Back this year are the JEDI MASTER cash awards going to the racer in each
category with the best combined times in each of the three events. Prize
money is bigger for each category this year too. As of today payout is Pro
Men/Women $200, Cat 1 M/W $125, Cat 2/3 M/W $50, JR 14 and under special
t-shirt. This payout is in addition to the normal Pro prize money.

Once again the Blazing Saddles Café will be providing snacks and water for
purchase throughout the weekend starting Friday evening with racer friendly
meals being available for purchase from Fri dinner to Sun lunch. Lunch will
be free to XC racers on Sunday.

Bring out the whole family and camp right at the race venue for the weekend.
There are plenty of trails in the area for all skill levels for those
looking for a recreational ride.

Do all three races on Sat & Sun and pay less! Register early and pay less!
Here is the link to the information and registration forms:

http://www.pistis.us

Come join up with your fellow riders for a great weekend, beautiful trails
and epic riding. There isn't another fat tire festival like this in Oregon!
If you've never done this race weekend you owe it to yourself to give it a
go.

I wanted to thank our sponsors for the Jedi. Clif Bar, Bikekraft, Chris King and Spin Cycles. We had the best group of volinteers ever. The team riders from Pistis Ministries did a great job of recruting family and friends. I must admit, Our food (Blazing Saddles) was 10 times better than I expected. But these were guys that are use to cooking on mission trips. They Rocked. We look forward to next year. I also want to thank all the riders that made the trip. For those who missed it you really missed out.

Thank God for a Great weekend.Cliff McCann Pistis MinistriesPistis.us541-659-4104

I want to add to David and Ron’s comments that the Jedi was well worth the drive and the PISTAS did an awesome job. With the small turn out just about everyone medaled in the Short Track and the Super D was Super fun – PS: A downhill bike was not necessarily an advantage!!!

The XC course was great, well marked, and well supported with aid stations. Just a ton of fun & a real MTB race.

Thanks to all the volunteers, race organizers and especially Pistis Cycling for putting on a "real" mountain bike race. The setting for the race and the tons of single-track were just amazing. I loved the three ice cold creek crossings, they added an extra cool factor to the race. The high speed downhill roads and trails were long and fast. The climbs reminded me of the T.O.E. and I was almost D.O.A. at the finish but I wouldn't have it any other way.

I am only sorry we did not do the short track and super D race on Saturday. Even though we made the trip from Portland it was well worth it for the atmosphere and food that was included with the race fee. Thumbs up to all the organizers and participants at this race. We will be back next year for sure. If you mtn bike race put this race on your to do list for next year.

Later,

David Luoma

I can only speak of the sport course, but of that I can say WOW! I worked my fanny good, but the singletrack was so amazing. The Jedi section is pretty special, but all of the others we were on offered some really great challenges. I have to admit that I would have loved one of the creek crossings to have required that we turn and either go up or down stream about 20 yards so we got really good and wet! We were lucky it was only "hot" not "really hot" even though the humidity and smoke offset the lower temp on Sunday compared to Saturday.
The event was without a hitch with regard to all the volunteers, sponsors and location. Pistis and Crew provided a top notch venue to work, play, enjoy the beautiful location and great people. Thank you for all of that and well... the food was off the charts great.
See ya next year.

Yes the Jedi is still on. You can print the flyer off www.pistis.us There will be a link on the OBRA schedule next week. It will be a weekend event. On Saturday there will be the short track state championships and a Super D. On Sunday is the State Championship for XC. There will be a meal provided to racers on sunday. If you come up early we are offering meals Friday night, Saturday morning and night and sunday am for a fee. All funds raised Friday and Saturday go to Pistis Ministries to help us get bikes out to Christian missonaries all over the world. All funds raised on Saturday will go the the Boys and Girls Club of the Rogue Valley bike club. So come on out and have some fun.

Oh ya, Mark Weir is going to start calling the Jedi his race. He has won it the last 2 years. So lets see one of the Oregon boys take back this race.Cliff McCann Pistis MinistriesPistis.us541-659-4104> Date: Sun, 11 May 2008 09:01:31 -0700> From: davgus@charter.net> To: obra@list.obra.org> Subject: [OBRA Chat] Return on the Jedi> > I haven't seen anything yet on Return on the Jedi other than it's on the schedule. I haven't seen anything yet on Return on the Jedi other than it's on the schedule. Is it still on?

The Return on The Jedi race flyer is on the site. Note no late fees. We
have also changed all the courses. Begginer course is 11 miles, Sport and SS
is 18 miles and the Pro, Expert is 22 miles. We took out the long climb in
the sun and add a shorter climb in the shade. We still have all the same
cool single track and even added more to the Pro, Expert and Sport courses.
All money raised from this event goes to the bike program at The Boys and
Girls Club of the Rogue Valley.
