Bear Springs Trap Update

FYI, I pre-rode half the course today (including clear creek) and from what I saw, it's in great shape. The moto sections are mostly tacky and occasionally muddy. There are occasional patches of snow but they are avoidable. Petr and his crew did a great job. Tomorrow should be awesome!

Normally we do far less messaging around a Hurricane event. Since there
have been a lot of questions, here is even more mountain bike gossip about
Bear Springs from the Team S&M gossip monger.

Sellwood has post-race food and on-course energy food lined up. Hurricane
Racing may have additional food on course as well.

Sellwood is providing pre-race neutral mechanical support. Do not show up
with a frame and some tubes and expect a miracle. Think adjustments not
overhaul. That last part is for your benefit, since there is often a line
for help.

It'd be good to pre-ride as much of the course as possible on Saturday to
make sure all the course markings are clear to you.

As always there are prizes. Sellwood Cycle Repair is going to do what we
normally do for this race!

This next part Erik did not ask me to share. But it actually surprised me.

"This year, we really need to organize a thorough, post-race course
clean-up. I had an angry person come in the shop last year complaining
about how my bike shop left garbage all over the national forest. I never
mentioned this to anybody outside the shop. (I guess this is another thing
the shop provides as cover--we're a buffer for negativity!) This might best
be done on Monday, but if weather is good the it's possible to do it
Sunday. Hopefully, I can get a few trusty souls to help out."

But they could practice running on snow while carrying their bike
- it might come in handy!

And if you have never raced Bear Springs Trap... Give yourself a gift of a
great ride because this may be the best XC course (note that I sure have fun
at others like Chainbreaker, Mudslinger, Picketts, Hornings and others too).
It seems to have almost all the types of terrain... especially if somewhat
wet still. I do hope for sun on both race days... makes it so nice!!!

Things are going as scheduled and will be ready for your racing

looking great. With more sun and mild temps they will be nice and tacky.

Make sure to save some time and pre register for the Short Track on
