Hey everyone, the event is approved:

*"**Sounds good! Please feel free to go ahead and announce. The sooner the
word gets out, the better!
Thanks,*
*Kelli** Lusk, National Events Director, USA Cycling"*

More details to come, but what you need to know is:

- June 25
- Mid or late-afternoon start to allow plenty of time for travel
- Day before Pickett's Charge!
- Held in conjunction with Pickett's Charge!
- It's using the Pickett's loop, down Tiddlywinks and up Funner, same as
last year
- Juniors will do about a 5 mile loop, not dropping down all the way
- This is ONLY for people who want to GO TO XC Nationals in Sun Valley
this year
- This is NOT an OBRA race, but OBRA supports the idea
- It will be called the USA Cycling XC MTB State Championship
- Top-15 in each category qualify
- We have the maximum number of categories possible to allow everyone***
to qualify
- We will provide results with times, but as long as your category has 15
of fewer people, placings and times don't matter for the qualifying process.
- We want you all to do this on Saturday and then race Pickett's on
Sunday

*** I say everyone, but it is possible there might be a category with more
than 15 people, although that is unlikely, as we'll shoot for 5-year age
groups for men and women. Mike knows more about this and we'll get the final
details soon, but the basics are all set. This year at Mudslinger, the
biggest Cat1 field was Men 45+ with 17 riders, so we'll do 5-year brackets
to ensure you all qualify.

Like I said before, Pickett's is the main event on Sunday. You need only
finish this race, so have fun pre-riding the course and save yourself a 16
hour drive out of state.

If you have questions about this, please reply to me directly, off list.

I'm no expert on this USAC stuff, I'm just looking to help people qualify
because XCO Nats is going to be run by Breakaway Promotions this year and
next--- that's Chad Sperry (Mt. Hood, CCC, Cherry Blossom) and the event is
going to be off the hook awesome and Oregon needs to represent!

Cheers,

Bill
