Robert Burney and I would like to thank all involved in our annual New

Year's Day sprint, especially those donating "bets" which equaled $130.87

this year, which will be split the between Transition Projects and Sisters

of the Road. Not a small dollar amount, when you figure it was all donated

by onlookers shortly before the sprint (thanks, John Forbes for your help in

gathering contributions!).

Started as a kind of grudge match two years ago, the two-block rolling start

has proven that Robert still has excellent muscle memory from all his track

appearances at national events a few years back! (He's now dusted me three

years in a row with a powerful jump...)

Next year, we will try 2 out of 3, a more "roadie approach," if you ask me!

And, I might be able do some "maintenance" on Robert's bike beforehand...

It's a great venue, with a rather large crowd on hand at Laurelhurst Park,

just having celebrated New Year's with the annual casual ride starting from

SW Naito at noon.
