Mostly of the Women's field.

I was out on course and it was hot. We all pitched in to make sure
riders were taken care of!

Very hard first stage with heat and a very selective course. BCCC did a fantastic job with three neutral feeds and water in the cars. USA Cycling could learn a lot from the BCCC and OBRA.

Nathan,

All of it never would have happened without all of your hard work planting the seeds and nurturing the sprouts for so many years. You and Claire have so much to be proud of in creating both a challenging race event and a warm, welcoming, and friendly atmosphere. Brian & Corrine Vegter, Bev Calder, Inga Thompson and the people of Baker City have continued to grow and build on that foundation you started and the vision you shared.

Thanks for getting the ball rolling and the continued encouragement from all of the Hobson clan. It's great to see you all out there every year.

Thank you to everyone that made the Baker City Cycling Classic possible. It was another great year of organization, community support, and big fun, with a bike race thrown in just to make it interesting! My crew of 19 had a wonderful four days in Baker and cant wait for it again next year!

Good racing.

I registered for a race today; the Baker City cycling classic. It is the first race of the year for me and I may not even race but they can have my money nonetheless. I started this race 11 years ago and promoted it for five years and then Ernie Conway promoted it for the next five years. As most races go we both grew tired of the work and challenges of promoting a race though both of us did it to benefit the community of Baker City. Most races would have died when we said we have had enough of the promoting game. Baker City realized the benefits and fun of having the stage race and formed a commity to keep the race alive. I am happy to give them my entry fee even if I do not race because I know first hand that the baker city high school sports programs, the restaurants, hotels, and local businesses understand that they will benefit by providing us a place to race. So if you are on the fence please sign up and support the only, as far as I know, community sponsored bike race in Oregon, the Baker City Cycling Classic. It does the community good.
Cheers,
Nathan Hobson
