That was one tough (but so much fun) course. Everybody was working hard for each lap. We all were winners! Thanks Rip and crew. That was a great course to end the the ‘14 Cross Season. Smiles were almost universal in Avery Park Today.
Hard to believe Cross is done when the conditions become this sublime.

Hello

Twas the night before Santa Cross, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even Ron Strasser!
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there.

The cross racers were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of barriers danced in their heads.
And mamma in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a course full of ribbon and many friends with cheer.
With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!

"Now Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! On, Cupid! on, on Donner and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!"

Thanks everyone for pre registering.....we are assigning you numbers Saturday am and after your wave if you are done racing feel free to have a Ninkasi Beer if you are over 21. Soup Cycle will be on hand and Juniors can have a small bowl of soup for 1.00 and adults are 7.00 with bread (16 oz) meat or vegi and its great soup!.

The course is approximately 1 mile long with a new section added in from last year and lap times of around 7-8 minutes which will be pretty intense racing.

The area around avery park has plenty of parking areas and you can drop off tents and gear off of the Crystal lake drive entrance and re park if you want to set up a tent and your own crew's festivities.

We have Great Music all day and Giant Bicycles Floor Pumps for all first place winners and a Yakima Rack for the best costume contest provided by Yakima. This is a 400 dollar rack so maybe a trip to Walmart tonight to bring your A game is in order.

When Parking you can park in many places, except areas with a NO Parking sign....

Bah. Humbug. Just kidding.
Last chance to race your bike in the mud at an OBRA event in 2014. Seize the day!

Support Ripley and the FUND to help low income kids attend After School Programs. We get to race our bikes while helping kids grow in a positive manner which will make them better citizens. If you had great opportunities growing up or want to help these kids improve their lives, come spread that Muddy Santa Cross Cheer. Tis the season.

Thanks Mike for working with the Corvallis Parks, your sponsors and all to make this possible. You da man.

Just think. The next time you race your cross bike will probably be at some DUST FEST next September....unless we get a lucky rain shower.

A big thanks to Mike and crew for putting on an awesome cross race. What a great way to end the season, good friends, lots of mud on a challenging course. This was my last race as a 50+ rider and couldn't have had more fun. Be great to see more races at this site.

Great Job!

I also want to say to all those talking awhile back about cross races into January..........unless someone suddenly decides to put one on.....this will be the last race that resembles a classic cyclocross race for many months (for Northern dwellers of our state). We will most likely be racing in the dust when we start up again.
Come support a new venue, a proven promoter (The Ripmeister), in the hometown of John Wilson (Champion promoter of Oregon Junior Cyclocross) and from the video what makes me have visions of the old Johnson Farm.
