Hello OBRA members:

Big thanks to everyone who helped us fill our volunteer spots. We are good to go on all of our fields as of this morning.

Meanwhile, here are a few notes/updates for now:

1) Numbers on the left and the back. Please wear both numbers or face the wrath of the officials.
2) GPS address for the start area is: 39249 OR Hwy 223
4) Cat IV men will be prized with the Cat IIIs but scored separately in the final reckoning. OBRA rules require us to cap the 3-4-5 field at 75 riders. We have plenty of space left currently, but please do not show up late and risk missing out.
5) Juniors (18 and under) pay their age as entry fee at Kings Valley.

We hope to see you on Saturday!
See y'all Saturday!

Hello OBRA members:

The Second Saturday in April is almost upon us and that means except for Philippe, Peter, Tommeke, and a few others, pretty much everyone is thinking about the nearly world famous Kings Valley Road Race this Saturday.

Here are a few notes/updates for now:

1) We have had a few cash sponsors step up and augment the womens prize lists this year. These sponsors have chosen to be nigh anonymous, but we will plug the Revenge of the Disc Time Trial on April 9th in Brownsville, OR. Its a flat TT and will make for great stage race training coming the day after Kings Valley. As the result of our generous sponsors, we now feature equal payout for the podium spots for the top mens and womens races and increased $ for the Cat IV women as well. Please see the race announcement for details: http://www.obra.org/flyers/2017/kvrr_2017.pdf
2) Numbers on the left and the back. Please wear both numbers or face the wrath of the officials.
3) GPS coordinates for the start area are: 39249 OR Hwy 223
4) Cat IV men will be prized with the Cat IIIs but scored separately in the final reckoning. OBRA rules require us to cap the 3-4-5 field at 75 riders. We have plenty of space left currently, but please don't show up late and risk missing out.
5) Juniors (18 and under) pay their age as entry fee at Kings Valley.
6) We are still looking for some corner marshals for the race. If you aren't racing, or know someone who isn't racing and wants to score epic psychic karma points by helping us put on a safe and fun race, please contact me. You will get a free entry, your volunteer gets gas $ (if a support vehicle driver), a tasty bag lunch and our thanks.
5) Weather forecast for Saturday: 84% chance of Awesome.

See y'all Saturday!

Hello OBRA members:

Just a quick note to any and all juniors (defined for purposes of the following promotional offer as racing age under 18 ) that might be racing at Kings Valley. We do not have a seperate junior field, but if you are racing in either the men's or women's fields, you only pay your age as your race entry fee.

See y'all at the Race.....

Hello OBRA members:

The Second Saturday in April is nearly here and many of you have pre-registered for La Doyenne of Oregon Cycling, the Kings Valley Road Race. Racers who have pre-registered in the past for Kings Valley will know that unlike many events that make you stand in line even if you pre-registered, Kings Valley has an Executive Check-In table for those clever enough to pre-register. You simply stop by the table, state your name and (assuming all is well with your entry, i.e. you have provided the required information, signed your release form, and paid your fee) you are checked in and free to begin your pre-race preparatory regimen. Obviously, if you declined to take advantage of pre-registration, you still may do so the morning of the race as we have veteran registration staffers who are well used to processing throngs of bike racer registrations at blazing speed.

A few other notes:

Numbers on the left and the back. You will need both numbers or face the wrath of the officials.
Registration area address for GPS purposes: 39249 OR Hwy-223

Meanwhile, the good folks at ODOT, Benton and Polk Counties have done an excellent job of resurfacing a good portion of the course and Kings Valley Road Race veterans will be pleased to notice very smooth pavement throughout the 19.5 mile circuit.

Wed like to note a special thanks to the West Coast Women's Cycling presented by Oakshire Brewing team as they continue to help us out with support drivers for the womens fields. We have augmented scoring again this year to include separate scoring for Women Cat IIIs racing in the Womens I-III field, Masters 40+ ladies (Cat III & IV) racing in the Womens Cat IV field as well as 60+ men in the Masters 40+ field. Prizes will be unchanged but scoring will be separate, other than as part of the 2014 Oregon Womens Prestige Series there will be a separate $40 cash prize to the top Cat III in the Womens I-III race. Also pay special note and thanks to our friends at Rolf Prima Wheels as they are providing some excellent wheels for neutral wheel support this year.

On a related note, we are always looking for additional support drivers for the races at Kings Valley. If you have a teammate who isnt racing or a spouse/relative/adoring fan who will be at the race in Saturday and would like to help out, they will get gas $, a tasty lunch and you will get a free race entry. Please contact me via email: (shg@summitbankonline.com).

Also, if you are strong, clever, and/or lucky enough to finish in the prizes, please hang about after the race and collect your winnings. We and your intrepid OBRA officiating crew have coordinated to get prize results posted with extreme alacrity which allows us to present cash awards and have our annual lil awards ceremony shortly after each race finish. If you need to leave before you can collect your cash, we have an easy little form so that you can provide us with your information so that we can remit payment to you quickly.

Cameron and I are all set for another great edition of the race and the current weather forecast looks like more perfect racing weather is in store, as is the norm on the Second Saturday in April at the Kings Valley Road Race.

See yall at the race!
