Mike Ripley
Hello
This is an update on some safety items for the Willamette Gran Fondo and other general info.
First off thank you so much for coming to some of the most amazing roads in Oregon including a trip over Alsea Falls for round 2 of the Oregon Triple Crown. If you are a Triple Crown Participant I have attached the standings after Oregon Gran Fondo including Overall!
When planning this route I knew that moving to summer would make a 100+ mile route a bit daunting, so this will have as much climbing as the Oregon Gran Fondo all in 79 Miles, plus a bit more shade. The Medio is a great route minus the Lobster Valley push!

Safety
Some parts have a particular extra danger do to speed, narrow shoulders and or left hand turns. Safety notes attached to review.
Remember that all roads are open and being that it is a sunday traffic will be light until you travel onto HWY 34 and over the falls for the Descent after aid 2.
Lane County Search and Rescue will be on site and we have people in 3 positions including 2 medics that I do not wish to utilize including 80 hrs of flagging for your protection. Please know that while the flaggers will stop traffic from the front your backside will be exposed to cars, so please cross when safe and please yield to traffic.
You will have limited to no cell phone coverage from Mile 25 for the gran until mile 62. My number is 541-225-7946 and with Lane county SAR, or Corvallis Cyclery Mechanical Sag support we will get you up and running or a trip back to the start if need be.
Aid stations will have plenty of Water and Hammer Heed and PB and J, nuetella and other assortments of salt and savory items.
Special Note that all Piccollo Riders need to go straight at Decker rd where the "Short Course" Sign is. By all means this is not meant to mock u as this 32 miles out and back is tough for sure with the aid station in Alpine waiting after 9:30am. Great job signing up for 32 miles if you are new to cycling!
Drop bags are limited to a small cooler or 1 gallon zip lock bag for aid 2 at Alsea falls Where John Osborn can fix what ails you mechanically. Please drop by 7:30 am Sunday August 2nd on site.
Please include your rider bib number and last name and know that any item will be returned around 5-6pm Sunday.
You will be receiving 2 bibs to place on your Right Side and back of your jersey.
The only riders having a Calf Marking will be part of the OTC series with your age.
IF you DNF or get a ride please text me
If you are scheduled to ride the Gran and downgrade to the Medio please get a mark on your Bib at Aid #2
Suncreen is a great idea and we will be cool in the am as you get into Alsea, and really only heat up a bit in Lobster Valley if you are doing the Gran and the final 16 for all riders after Alpine.
Main turn is S fork RD after Alsea at mile 26
Medio Riders turn left
Gran Riders at mile 26 continue straight to Lobster Valley to turn around and come back at mile 44 for a Right hand turn on South Fork RD.
Flaggers will be onsite and please do not ask them what to do....if they tell you the wrong thing its on you....signs will say Gran only....Gran Only!
More photos to come as I will be riding the loop Wednesday.....wish me luck...time to wear the Hydration Pack!
Mike and family and crew!
