One could make that argument if you were in a car and the only one around, and it would be equally unpersuasive. The point is, if we want to be treated as vehicles with the right to use the roads, behave as one.

However, I know for a fact that Jeff obeys all the laws as a good example to others as well as for his personal safety.

Bummer, this is happening all over town, even in downtown Vancouver a friend of mine got pulled over for rolling through a stop sign.....Spendy ticket.....
242.00 seems a little extreme when there was probably no other vehicles anywhere around....But it look like they are trying to send a message because of all the conflicts
between cyclist and vehicles in recent times....Be safe out there...

Subject: [OBRA Chat] Bike Sting

There is a police bike sting going on near the esplanade and Portland Opera...Mc Coys wood shop area. SE

I just got pulled over by Portland's Finest for Failure to comply with a traffic control device, or not completely stopping for a stop sign at 7:47 AM this morning.

I was pulled over asked How I was doing and then asked if I was aware that cyclists had to abide by motor traffic laws, I told him I wasn't going to argue with him.

I was issued a $242.00 ticket.

He told me I could attend a Share the Road Class and pay $30 and most likely get the ticket reduced or dropped.

As I pulled away I saw about 6 other cyclists pulled over by motorcycle cops.

This was near Portland Opera and Division on Water Ave.

Ugg.
