As a matter of fact I do obey the laws but alot of us never come to a 4 way stop and make a complete stop, especially when there is no cars in sight.......And a good portion don't do it in the car as well......Dean Lucas and his wife Julia got pulled over not long ago for the exact same thing on an early Sunday morning and no cars around, 242.00 ticket each....If they are going to place a cycling sting somewhere I would suggest a busy area of town where people rolling through a stop sign could cause problems....Where he got popped there is little to no traffic anytime of the day, except for cyclists and runners.........I am not saying to run stop signs but a little common sense from an officer on where to do this and who to give the tickets to would make more of an impact.
Anyway George, next team ride I will make sure your at a complete stop at every stop sign and light....OK.....I will be counting how many tickets you should have received at the end of the ride.......HAH....See ya

One could make that argument if you were in a car and the only one around, and it would be equally unpersuasive. The point is, if we want to be treated as vehicles with the right to use the roads, behave as one.

However, I know for a fact that Jeff obeys all the laws as a good example to others as well as for his personal safety.

Bummer, this is happening all over town, even in downtown Vancouver a friend of mine got pulled over for rolling through a stop sign.....Spendy ticket.....
242.00 seems a little extreme when there was probably no other vehicles anywhere around....But it look like they are trying to send a message because of all the conflicts
between cyclist and vehicles in recent times....Be safe out there...

There is a police bike sting going on near the esplanade and Portland Opera...Mc Coys wood shop area. SE

I just got pulled over by Portland's Finest for Failure to comply with a traffic control device, or not completely stopping for a stop sign at 7:47 AM this morning.

I was pulled over asked How I was doing and then asked if I was aware that cyclists had to abide by motor traffic laws, I told him I wasn't going to argue with him.

I was issued a $242.00 ticket.

He told me I could attend a Share the Road Class and pay $30 and most likely get the ticket reduced or dropped.

As I pulled away I saw about 6 other cyclists pulled over by motorcycle cops.

This was near Portland Opera and Division on Water Ave.

Ugg.
