Re: Championships

I guess I have to put my two cents in. This probably will sound like sour
grapes as last year I was second twice to out of staters in our OBRA
championships. The medals I have say State Championships, but they are not.
I do not really motivate myself on the OBRA championships. I am proud to
have won the medals I have. I think about the pros and how many of them
never win a single race. So every time I win or stand on a podium I dedicate
my small victory to those who have never had that chance.
Now I like tradition, to me it is part of cycling and athletics in general.
Where someone is from has always played an important part of competition.
That is why we hear national anthems at the Olympics. I was at the world
track championships this spring and saw Sarah Hammer win a gold. I was proud
to be from the same country. I would also like us to have State
Championships. They could be open to all though. State medals going to state
residents. How to check. It is the honor system like most things we do. That
is how I see it.
