I would like to try the new rule proposal for one race so we can observe
its effect on tactics and race flow. Afterwards, we would be better
informed to decide whether or not to adapt the new rule.

I think keep the sprints every 5 laps to keep the racing moving and
interesting, but maybe use the 20 points gained/lost for gaining/losing
a lap. I also think keep the double in the middle for the same reason.

I know it is a hybrid.

Then if we wanted for districts or AVC we could follow the every 10 laps
sprint rule so that our bigger races would follow the USAC rules.

If you need someone to propose that rule, please consider this email
that proposal, but I am of course alway open to suggestions from people
more reasonable than I.

Thank You,

For years I have been resistant to change the way we run points races at
Alpenrose. The good old fashion way. Sprints every 5 laps, double points
in
the middle and end. People laps up and down
USA Cycling now sprints every 10 laps and only awards double points at
the
end. They give 20 points for lapping the field and 20 points for those
losing a lap.
Should I step into the 21st century and start doing it their way?
